After trying Motorcycle Racing and falling off so many times

decided to move to four wheels instead.

It all began in 1967 Derek Webb then aged 27 started rallying at

club level.

Then using various cars including & competing on 12 WRC rounds

as a co-driver.

The best result on a WRC Lombard Rally round was with Japanese

Champion Driver Teruo Katsuta in a Toyota Corolla Sprinter

1600cc on the 1980 Lombard RAC Rally 1st in Class and 20th

Overall, last competed on the RAC Rally in 1992.

Then in 2002 1st Overall Historics on the Monteberg Rally

Sprint and also 1st British crew and 3rd Overall on the Ypres

Historic rally with Richard Ive in his Ford RS 265 Bhp Mk 1.

In 2004 moved to France but contiued to co-drive for Phil Budgen on

the 205 Challenge BARC rounds in a hire car from T.I. Motorsport

flying over from France for the weekends .

The cars driven include the following:

Jaguar D Type Long & Short Nose testing with lynx Engineering

Mini Cooper, Ford 105E

Austin Healey Sprite, Mini Cooper S

Ford Mexico, Ford Mk 2 (Ex Ari Vatenan car), Toyota Corolla

Toyota, Starlet Special, Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Cosworth (Ex

Colin Mcrae Recce Car), Ford Focus (Ex GSE Ford

Developement Car), Ford Mexico Mk 1. In 2009 we were using

a Historic Porsche Carrera 3 for Special Stage Events in the UK &

Belguim also using a 1972 Austin Mini for club events, with Archie

Pelling in the Hot Seat. ( Archie now owns the Mini).

After selling the Porsche Derek has gone back to his roots

and now has a  1972 Clubman Group 4 Mk 1 Ford RS 2000

pictured above on the 2010 Monteberg Rally Sprint.

We have fitted a 2ltr Zetec 225Bhp & we have now changed the

CWP to a 4.6 to make sure we do not run out of Revs.

This should make the car more competitive.

The VAS Belguim will make Hans Device compulsory in 2012

so the MSA UK  is again lagging behind with the safety issues

Ireland have had it now for two years, Belguim from 01/01/2012

and you will have to update your helmet to one which has the Hans

Posts Peltor Helmet cost around £450.

Rye Racing will be Sponsoring the 2011/2012 12 Car Winter

Series Rally Championship & a new  Marshalls Award.
