FORD CORTINA GT

Registered in 1967 one the last 1966 cars, the Cortina GT was first aquired by the late Tony Maslen in 2000 based in Crowborough East Sussex.

Tony was famed for his efforts as a rally driver and builder of Ford rally cars  for drivers like Pentti Airikkala.

The car was already a rally car but with Tony's knowledge it could be made to perform better and be a class winning car.

The car has only been rallied abroad mainy in Belgium.

The Cortina was built into a lightweight rally car for his son Davd  in 2000, all excess weight removed a special aircraft wiring loom fitted, fibreglass boot and bonnet, the engine rebuilt producing 110 BHP 97lb of torque.

The car was then purchased by Alan Honess, he had many very good class wins in Belgium, Ireland and I.O.M. until l bought the car in 2017.

I along with Dick Athow won the FIRC Sprint Stage Champioship in 2019 icluding a few class wins along the way.
